Did you know that every basket you see is made by hand? Join us to make your own! Learn the art of plaited basketry with painted paper. Session #1 - The basics! Day 1 will start at the beginning. Using painted paper strips you will learn how to start weaving the base of the basket and then how to transition up to the sides. Pre-painted paper strips will be provided to get everyone started, and participants will also have the opportunity to create their own painted paper strips. Session #2 - Finishing and more! Learn a few ways to finish off your basket with a paper, fabric, or woven rim. And for those that are ready - day 2 will also provide the opportunity to design and start a second basket using the same plaiting technique and/or learn a variation – the diagonal plaiting technique. Class co-taught by Mary Brooks and Sharon Stafford. Cost $175 plus $20 material fee paid to instructors.
